About
Welcome to Canton Restaurant, a culinary gem nestled in Daly City, California. Located at 250 90th St, this establishment is a delightful stop for those yearning for authentic Chinese cuisine, especially dim sum. With a reputation built on fresh ingredients and mouthwatering dishes, Canton has cultivated a loyal following among locals and visitors alike.
Originally hailing from San Francisco, Canton Restaurant has made a triumphant homecoming after relocating during the pandemic in 2020. Despite the change in scenery, it hasn't lost its magic. Diners like Sheryl Henn have found joy in rediscovering their favorite dishes, with deep-fried shrimp balls often taking center stage.
One of the highlights of dining here is the experience of fresh, made-to-order dishes. As Karly Ko points out, there’s no wait for weekend dim sum, and the selection is both abundant and fresh. Signature items like shu mai, shrimp dumplings, and BBQ pork buns come highly recommended, while the salted egg yolk pumpkin fries have been described as a must-try! The menu also caters to vegetarian diners, showcasing their versatility with dishes like four-season string beans and mapo tofu.
Customer experiences have highlighted the top-notch service, which significantly enhances the dining experience. As noted by Stephanie Madearos, the staff are not only professional but also eager to assist in navigating the menu, ensuring that diners feel welcomed and informed about the dishes. This attention to service complements the cleanliness of the dining area, which features bright windows and ample seating, making it ideal for large gatherings.
However, some diners have expressed concerns regarding portion sizes and service consistency. Yet, most agree that the quality of the food remains high, making Canton a worthwhile destination even for those who may encounter service hiccups. Veteran patrons like S Chin have shared their favorite dishes, including shrimp with walnuts, crispy fried chicken, and the delightful claypot with eggplant.
In summary, Canton Restaurant offers a warm, inviting atmosphere paired with delicious, authentic cuisine that keeps locals returning. Whether you are looking to indulge in a delightful dim sum experience or savor some tantalizing Szechuan dishes, this restaurant is a must-visit. So why not gather a group of friends, and head to Canton for a memorable dining experience? You may just find your new favorite spot!

“ We came here to celebrate mother’s days. Their food is very good. Service is a hit or miss. Their portions are getting a little bit smaller but the food is still very good. We usually order: shrimp with walnut, Crispy fried Chicken with Shrimp Chips, peasprouts & garlic, sweet and sour fish, broccoli mushroom and beef (yummy), and a claypot with eggplant. I would definitely come back . ”
“ My friends, who are locals took me and another friend here a year ago during a visit last year. We loved it and came back. Fresh ingredients, unique plates and excellent quality. ”
“ This restaurant was originally in San Francisco but moved due to the pandemic in 2020. We're delighted to find our favorite dim sum place and will be visiting often. The deep-fried shrimp balls are our favorite. ”
“ I almost don’t want to share this because it’s SUCH a gem! No wait for weekend dimsum. Super fresh and steamed only after you order it. Plenty of seating, clean, good service and delicious food. The must orders are the shu mai, shrimp dumpling, BBQ pork buns, and sticky rice. The salted egg yolk pumpkin fries are to die for...we ordered multiple in the end!! They were able to accommodate and had plenty of vegetarian options. We ordered the four season string beans and mapo tofu for large dishes (both we requested without pork) and veggie dumpling dimsum. The seating is comfortable - plenty of space between the tables; with big bright windows. Great for big groups. Oh...did I mention there’s PLENTY of parking right here in the parking lot?! ”
“ Our waiter was so professional and happily answered our questions about some dishes we were not familiar to us. The food was delicious, the dining area spotless and the waiter made us feel so welcome! ”
“ I like the Buddha delight. I always order this with other plates. Ordered wor won ton. This is another of my prefer plates in here. Ordered the combination chow mein, which only had one shrimp, and black mushroom with bitter melon... they can change some vegetables for another if you ask them. The Chinese style food is always recognizable for its distinctive Cantonese flavor ”
“ Fast, friendly service. Been coming here for years. Consistent, high quality food. Can do many dishes vegetarian. Can also make custom dishes upon request. Family & kid friendly. ”
“ Nice family restaurant. Clean and delicious. Our go-to in the area. Try their Flying lobster noodles! ”
